How to Allow Pop-ups in Google Chrome
On Desktop (Windows or Mac):
Chrome blocks pop-ups automatically by default. You can change this setting easily.
- Now while using your desktop head over to Google Chrome.
- Hit a click on the 3 dots at the top right.
- From the dropdown, choose the “Settings” option.
- On the left menu, click “Privacy and Security.”
- Then click the option called “Site Settings.”
- Scroll and find “Pop-ups and redirects” option.
- Here, You need to choose an option, which is; “Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects.”
To allow pop-ups for one website only:
- In the same section, click the “Add” button.
- Type the website URL you want to allow.
- Click “Add” again to save this setting.
Another way is when Chrome blocks a pop-up.
- You will see a “Pop-up blocked” message.
- Click that message on the address bar.
- Select “Always allow pop-ups from this site.”
- Then click “Done” to save the change.
On Android Phones or Tablets:
- Open the Chrome browser on your Android phone.
- Tap the three-dot menu on the top-right corner.
- Choose the “Settings” option from the list.
- Scroll down and tap on “Site Settings.”
- Tap “Pop-ups and redirects” to open it.
- Turn ON the switch to allow pop-ups easily.
On iPhone or iPad (iOS):
- Open the Chrome app on your Apple device.
- On the 3 dots at the bottom right side, you have to click on that.
- Tap “Settings” from the pop-up menu options.
- Now tap “Content Settings” in the next screen.
- Select the option “Block Pop-ups” from the list.
- Turn OFF the switch to allow pop-ups again.
- Finally, tap “Done” to save your settings.
Extra Tips for Chrome Users:
When a pop-up gets blocked on any website:
- On the address bar you will notice a warning message.
- Click the warning and open the blocked pop-up.
- Choose “Always allow pop-ups from this site.”
- You can also change pop-up settings anytime later.
How to Allow Pop-ups in Microsoft Edge and Safari
In Microsoft Edge (Windows or Mac):
- Open the Edge browser on your device first.
- Click the three-dot menu at the top-right corner.
- Choose “Settings” from the list of options.
- Hit a click on “Cookies and site permissions” which is placed on the left side.
- Now scroll and click on “Pop-ups and redirects.”
- Turn OFF the switch labeled “Block pop-ups” there.
To allow one website only:
- Click the “Add” button next to “Allow.”
- Type the website’s address you want to allow.
- Click “Add” to save this new setting.
In Safari on Mac:
- Open Safari browser on your Mac device.
- Click the Safari menu on the top-left screen.
- Choose the “Preferences” option from the menu.
- Go to the “Websites” tab from the window.
- Click “Pop-up Windows” from the left menu.
- For each website, choose “Allow” from the dropdown.
- Or choose “Allow” for all sites in general.
In Safari on iPhone or iPad:
- Go to “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll down and tap on the “Safari” option.
- Find the “Block Pop-ups” option in the list.
- Turn it OFF to allow pop-ups on Safari.
How to Allow Pop-ups in Firefox
On Computer (Windows or Mac):
- Open the Firefox browser on your desktop device.
- You will notice a yellow bar if pop-ups are blocked.
- Click “Options” on that yellow warning message.
- Then select “Allow pop-ups from this site.”
To allow all pop-ups in Firefox:
- Click the three-line menu in the top-right.
- Choose “Settings” or “Preferences” from there.
- Go to the “Privacy & Security” tab next.
- Scroll down to find the “Permissions” section.
- Uncheck the box for “Block pop-up windows.”
- You can also click the “Exceptions…” button.
- Add website URLs and click “Allow” for each.
On Firefox for iPhone:
- Open the Firefox app on your Apple device.
- Tap the three lines at the bottom screen.
- Tap the “Settings” option from the list.
- Find “Block Pop-up Windows” and turn it OFF.
Note: Firefox on Android doesn’t support pop-ups currently. You should use Chrome on Android for pop-ups instead.
How to Manage Pop-up Settings Easily
All browsers let you allow pop-ups for websites. Just head over the browser settings and seek for the pop-up section. You can add, remove, or block sites anytime.
Using pop-up blockers from third-party apps:
- Some browser extensions block pop-ups even now.
- You must disable such tools to allow pop-ups.
- They can stop pop-ups even with allowed settings.
Important Reminder: Some websites use pop-ups for login or payment. If blocked, such tasks will be inaccessible. Always check the address bar for any warning icon. Click it and allow the pop-up when needed.
