Snapchat Launches on Apple Watch: New Way to Chat
Snapchat is now available on Apple Watch devices. It brings a light version focused only on messaging. You can’t send Snaps or view Stories here. It only supports chat message notifications and replies.
The app lets users preview messages directly on the screen. Earlier, you could only get mirrored notifications. Now, you can interact with those messages in simple ways.
Users can reply in many different ways:
- Type using the Apple Watch’s small keyboard
- Scribble letters using your finger
- Select emojis to react quickly
- Use voice to type messages instantly
It makes communication faster and more flexible. This is great for users in meetings or while walking. You don’t need to check your phone every time.
However, the preview only shows 100 characters. You can’t scroll through old chats or photos. Only new notifications will be shown.
Setup and Requirements
To use Snapchat on Apple Watch, follow these steps:
- You need Apple Watch Series 4 or above
- Your Watch must run WatchOS 9 or newer
- Your phone must have Snapchat version 13.35 or above
Now open the Watch app on your iPhone. Go to the ‘Mirror iPhone Alerts From’ section. Make sure Snapchat is selected there. This allows message alerts on your Watch screen.
After setup, you’ll get chat notifications directly. Lift your wrist or tap the screen to preview. Then, tap the reply option to respond in any way you like. It works smoothly and instantly sends the reply.
Why This Is Important
Many big apps left the Apple Watch already. Instagram, Uber, Trello, and Amazon are no longer there. They stopped support due to low user numbers. But Snapchat is doing the opposite now.
Snapchat wants to work across all user devices. It is already available on phones, tablets, and desktops. Now, wearables are also included in its vision.
This small update shows big future plans. Snapchat wants users to stay connected anywhere. Even if the app is limited now, it’s a step forward.
Snapchat launches on Apple Watch with message tools. With more updates, Snapchat may add new features. For now, this move keeps the Apple Watch useful and relevant.
